Nigeria’s Patoranking has been releasing his own brand of reggae-dancehall influenced Afrobeats since 2009 when he dropped his first single ‘So Nice’.
Releasing a slew of singles since then, as well as his debut album ‘God Over Everything’ in 2016 he has become one of Nigeria’s leading artists. Getting his start in music with underground collaborations, he has continued to work with a variety of artists. Here we look at 10 of best tracks on which Patoranking has featured.
Tupengo - OJUKAN(Remix) feat. Skales, Seriki, Reminisce, Phenom, Kels, Patoranking
One of his earliest features and appearing alongside a huge roster of some of Nigeria’s best rappers, the remix of Tupengo’s massive 2011 single. In a sea of rappers, Patoranking’s verse stands out with it’s dancehall flavour.
WizzyPro - Emergency feat. Runtown, Skales, Patoranking
Producer and sound engineer WizzPro is credited as the producer of Patoranking’s first official single ‘Alubarika’ released in 2013 the same year the two worked together to create this chart-topping single.
Seyi Shay - Murda feat. Patoranking, Shaydee
Appearing on singer & songwriter Seyi Shay’s 2014 single ‘Murda’ alongside Shaydee, Patoranking once again stands out, with his voice a perfect complement to the sultry vocals of Seyi Shay.
Chopstix - Judah feat. Patoranking, Endia
In a fat and dark ragga track produced by Chopstix, Patoranking smooth flows delivered in Nigerian pidgin show how the sound of Jamaica has come full circle and returned home.
DJ Hazan - Early MoMo (Morning) feat. Patoranking
DJ Hazan, who has been spinning music in Nigeria for more than a decade, teamed up with Patoranking for his second single released in 2014, a mid-tempo, afro-dancehall track that oozes groove.
Khuli Chana - No Lie feat. Patoranking
The collaboration between one of South Africa’s best Motswako rappers and Patoranking would lead to a cross border hit that also gained attention in the UK charting on BBC 1Xtra’s DNA Top 5.
Waje - Left For Good feat. Patoranking
One of Nigeria’s most powerful voices with a range of three octaves, Waje enlisted Patoranking for a feature on her soul-meets-reggae single ‘Left For Good’.
DJ Xclusive - Shaba feat. Kcee & Patoranking
With a nod to dancehall legend Shabba Ranks, this DJ Xclusive single was meant for the clubs and dancing.
Eddy Kenzo - Royal feat. Patoranking
Collaborating with Ugandan star Eddy Kenzo on a track dedicated to women, this dancehall song shows that Patoranking has a sensitive side too.
Emma Nyra - For My Matter(Remix) feat. Patoranking
American born, Nigeria based Emma Nyra invited Patoranking to feature on the remix of her 2016 DJ Coublon produced hit ‘For My Matter’.
